poem, 13 ways to look at

Footwear

1.
heels clop on the tile
because she wants you to know
that she’s approaching

2.
girls arrive in gowns
the one thing they ditch before
their dates are their shoes

3.
people watch and glare
turned off by her short skirt? perhaps
but it’s a week past Labor Day
and her shoes are white as cream

4.
you’d think it was Napoleon Dynamite
coming wearing those ridiculous snow boots

5.
guests keep them tied
friends kick them off

6.
rainbows wrap around her feet
putting black and whites to shame

7.
straight-laced and tucked beneath the tongue
skaters grip their boards and surf the air

8.
big-footed, her shoes make
her look like a clown in
skinny jeans

9.
painted, penned, highlighted and sharpied
chucks are perfect for personalizing

10.
cushioned for comfort
they’re clouds to walk on, like a
soft hug for your feet

11.
objects of your strut
give you bounce in your step and
a high in your heart

12.
twisted, crossed, angled in
they reveal your
lack of confidence

13.
tongues and laces are just for show
we all know that shoes have soles

my current favorite song:

Any Other Day -- by Bon Jovi, of course.

Life
is
getting
better
and

jenay y mawnicuh... part 2!

Yaaay another adventure! (look)
Things that make our hangouts amazing:
  1. competing to find ugly dresses
  2. taking pictures in ugly dresses
  3. shopping in fast motion for colorful shirts on sale! (and polka dot bras)
  4. being the last customers at cinnabon
  5. making muffins while stalking people on myspace and facebook
  6. not planning ahead and having to see alvin and the chipmunks because it was the only movie playing anywhere close to 11
  7. wearing skanky shirts to a PG movie (hahaha)
  8. drowning popcorn in butter and salt
  9. taking pictures of our feet on the seats

i'm sure i left something out

and that's just one night. we have so many stories.

protein = power

For trying to do a good thing, abstaining from meat proved to harm me more than help. I re-welcomed protein into my life yesterday, and today I felt absolutely invincible. I had an amazing day. Whether or not it was a result of returning to meat is uncertain, but I attribute it to that. Diet has to be an influential factor on mood and well-being.

Lately I've found myself extremely moody and short-tempered, which is shocking compared to my typical behavior. I rarely get mad. But recently even the smallest things can push my fury nearly to tears. I'm glad I put that behind me.

Today, despite having chill classes and minimal work, my mood was inexplicably positive. Nothing could ruffle me. I was cheery and bright from 5:30 a.m. until this very minute. Although good things happened, not a single one jumps out as the reason for my joy.

I'm so glad.

i'm so proud

of myself. (:
I've stuck to most of my resolutions, and I'm using my time extremely wisely for the most part. I've done all my homework so far, and on time too (go me!). But I could go on about my accomplishments so far in 2008. (half kidding)

but today was a mixed day. It was gray and yucky. And I didn't get home till almost 6. But then I got to spend some time alone with my mom: we ate at panera and went grocery shopping together (a serious bonding activity). It cheered me up a little. Plus we got strawberries. They're red and firm and smell delicious.

The end.

sweet surprise

I totally rediscovered this Polaroid by accident. I am so psyched! Even though the only film in it is creates a Barbie border (yes, I am serious), I can't wait to use it. I almost like it more than my Rebel. (;

Other updates:
  1. I'm writing a novel.
  2. I'm sketching every day.
  3. I'm participating in 365 (a photo a day).
  4. Two words: Super Monopoly.
  5. (I swear this will take all year.)
  6. I'm determined to read more Emerson. (Great passage today: Discipline, from Nature)
  7. I'm starting to like black coffee.
  8. I think I've found a mail art buddy.
  9. My furniture's rearranged and my room is almost CLEAN.
  10. Oh yeah, I applied to Princeton. My application was killer. (;
  11. I still don't feel like talking to anybody.
  12. I threw it away and I feel okay.
